Seed Sprouting Kids Activity

Kids love to see how things work and grow. This activity shows kids how seeds sprout. They can see how long it takes, and what the different seeds look like once they sprout.

Things Needed For Sprouting Seeds

Sandwich Bag
Variety Of Seeds
Paper Towel
Water

Directions For Sprouting Seeds Kids Activity

- Fold the paper towel so it fits in the sandwich bag.

- Moisten the paper towel with water.

- Put the seeds on top of the paper towel and put them inside the bag.

- Zip the bag up and make sure that it stays moist.

A plastic water bottle with a few holes punched in the lid seems to work great to get your paper towel wet with.

Sit back and watch the seeds grow.

Garden Kids Activity

Starting a Kids Garden Starting a kids Garden

Starting a garden is fun for all ages. Children love to help. You can plant flowers or vegetables. Get a card board egg carton. Cut off the lid, and fill it with potting soil.

Egg Carton Garden Activity

Make a little hole in the dirt and place your seeds in them. Cover the seeds with dirt. Put the carton in a sunny place and keep them moist and watch them grow.
When the times comes to replant, just break them into the individual pieces and plant them in the carton. It will disintegrate into the soil.
Give the kids their own spot to take care of. They will learn how to take care of something and have a fun reward at the end.

Waterbottle to water kids garden

We discovered a fun way to water the little egg carton garden.
Get a plastic soda bottle, and poke a few holes in the lid with a pin. The water comes out slower and you can water everything just the right amount.

To help your Egg carton garden stay moist, you may want to stick the carton in a pan or on a cookie sheet with water in the bottom. This will help the kids garden to not dry out so quickly.
