Starting a Kids Garden Starting a kids Garden
Starting a garden is fun for all ages. Children love to help. You can plant flowers or vegetables. Get a card board egg carton. Cut off the lid, and fill it with potting soil.Make a little hole in the dirt and place your seeds in them. Cover the seeds with dirt. Put the carton in a sunny place and keep them moist and watch them grow.
When the times comes to replant, just break them into the individual pieces and plant them in the carton. It will disintegrate into the soil.
Give the kids their own spot to take care of. They will learn how to take care of something and have a fun reward at the end.
We discovered a fun way to water the little egg carton garden.
Get a plastic soda bottle, and poke a few holes in the lid with a pin. The water comes out slower and you can water everything just the right amount.
To help your Egg carton garden stay moist, you may want to stick the carton in a pan or on a cookie sheet with water in the bottom. This will help the kids garden to not dry out so quickly.
