Nature Hunt Kids Activity

Nature hunts and Nature walk activities are a nice way for children to get outside and see the world around them. They get to explore and have fun outside.

Bag for Nature Hunt Kids Activity
Take a paper bag, an ice cream bucket, or one of your children's toy buckets, and paste a list of things for the kids to find or search for and see on your nature hunt.

Take a pencil and mark things off the lists as you find them.

You may also wish to let the kids color on the bags or buckets before you take them on your nature hunt.

Bucket for Nature Hunt Kids Activity

Below are two lists. One is a list of things to find on the Nature Hunt and stick in the bucket or paper sack. The other list is a list of things to see on the Nature Hunt. Put an X by the thing you see or a line to count each number of things you see.

THINGS TO FIND

___ Stick
___ Feather
___ Grass
___ Pine Cone
___ Flat Rock
___ Round Rock
___ Neat looking Rock
___ Seed
___ Big Leaf
___ Tiny Leaf
___ Dandelion
___ Garbage (place in trash)

The last item is to help kids learn that we should clean up the trash we see to help keep our town and earth clean.

THINGS TO SEE

How many different kinds of FLOWERS do you see.

If you have different ideas place them in with the ones provided. There are so many fun things out there to see. Those in the city may find different things on a Nature Hunt than those in the country. Maybe try a nature hunt in both places to see the differences you find.

This is a fantastic children's activity idea! I love the educational and environmental aspect to it. If you're interested, check out the party planning tab on www.birthdayinabox.com for additional ideas.
