Firecracker Independence Day Kids Craft

Fireworks are a fun part of summer. This firecracker kids craft activity is a great craft for your Summer Independance Day celebrating. It is a cool decoration that you can use over and over.

Things Needed For Firecracker Kids Craft

Wooden Dowel
Red, White & Blue Paint
Star & Heart Wooden Shapes (purchase at local craft store)
Red, White & Blue wire streamers (local craft store)
Hot glue gun

Directions For Firework 4th of July Kids Craft

Cut the dowel into 8 inch long pieces.

Poke a hole in the top for the wire streamers to come out of.

Paint the dowel striped red and blue.

Paint the wooden hearts and stars red, white & blue.

Either splatter paint the splatter look of white, or touch softly with a sponge brush.

After the paint dries, glue on the wooden shapes and the wire streamers with the hot glue gun.

Homemade Pinwheel Kids Craft

Kids love to make things move and work. Homemade Pinwheels are a fun children's activity to make and kids love to play with them.

Things Needed For Children's Pinwheel Craft

1 Small Dowel or Pencil
1 Piece of Card stock
1 Push pin
Things to color with and decorate with.

Directions for Making Kids Pinwheel Craft

Take your paper and fold one corner up so that it touches the other side.

There will be a 2 1/2 inch piece at the top. Cut that piece off.

Your paper will have a crease in it fold the opposite sides together so the when you open the page it will have creases in the shape of an X

Color both sides of the page in any way that you would like. You could use paints, crayons, glitter, stickers or anything that would make your pinwheel colorful and fun.

Make sure you color both sides of the card stock.

Punch a hole in the bottom of each corner of the page. Make sure that you have it on one side of the crease so you can pull the pieces to the middle.

Cut the creases about halfway up the crease and then pull the pieces that have the hole punch in them to the center of the page.

Use a push pin to go through the holes gathered at the middle. Push the pin into a pencil or small wooden dowel.

Sparkle Windsock Kids Craft Activity

This windsock craft is a fun activity. The kids could run around with it outside or you could hang it up and watch it fly. The windsock could also help keep the birds out of your fruit trees or strawberries. Just hang it up in your fruit trees or berry patch.

Things Needed For Windsock Kids Craft

Small Embroidery Hoop
Double Sided Carpet Tape
Shiny Streamers (I'm not sure the name, I'll find out for sure and post it)

Directions For Windsock Kids Craft

-Cut tape into small strips. Line the outside and inside of embroidery hoop with the tape.

-Take your streamers and srap them around the hoop.

- If you wrap the tip of a streamer around the hoop it will make the windsock long.

- If you wrap the middle of the streamer around the hoop it will make the windsock shorter, but it will be more full.

- You may also get a piece of wire and attach it to either side of the hoop to make a handle to hold and let the kids run with it, or use it to hand up and watch the streamers fly and sparkle in the sunshine.

Leaf Print Kids Craft Activity

Leaves are fun to look at and inspect. It is also fun to take different sizes and shapes of leaves to look at. In this Leaf Print Kids Craft activity kids are able to find and see many different leaves and do something fun with them.

Leaf Print Kids Craft Instructions

Have your kids go outside and pick up all different sizes and shapes of leaves.


Paint the leaves with a thin layer of paint, you may use a brush, sponge, or cloth. You may also use an ink pad.

Have something you wish to place the leaf prints on, such as a Paper Sack, Paper (for wrapping paper) or paper just for something fun to hang on the fridge. You may also put them on a vase, toy box, book shelf, or just straight onto the wall. You could even frame some on cloth or paper.

If it seems there is a lot of paint on the leaf you may wish to stamp it on a spare page first, before doing it on your craft.

After putting your paint or ink on the leaf, press it firmly onto the object of your choice. Let it dry and enjoy.

Egg Carton Caterpillar Craft Activity

This homemade egg carton caterpillar craft is a fun summer or anytime craft activity.

Craft Instructions

Take an egg carton and cut off the lid and the flap.

Then cut off all the tips down the center of the egg carton so that your caterpillars will stand flat on the ground.

Cut the egg carton in half lengthwise.

Have your kids paint the caterpillar however they would like. You may use paints with a brush or finger paints.

For the antennae and legs, use pipe cleaners.

Cut the pipe cleaners into two inch pieces.

Use a push pin to make a hole where you want the antennae and legs to go.

Push the pipe cleaners through the holes and bend them however you want.
